Library Recommendation of the Week Charles Haddon Spurgeon is a colorfully illustrated biography by Simonetta Carr in her beautiful “Christian Biographies for Young Readers” series. With the skill of a master storyteller, Carr does the impossible; she takes the almost incomprehensible life of Spurgeon and creatively summarizes it for children. In this book, Simonetta Carr informs us how young Charles learned to look to Christ alone for salvation, and how he never tired of pointing others to his \Savior. See how God used this young country boy to preach to thousands, provide training for pastors, start orphanages, and stand against those who denied basic teachings of the Bible.  Colorful illustrations, interesting facts, and a compelling story combine to introduce young readers to this important British preacher who is today considered one of the greatest preachers in the history of Christianity. You can find this book in the non-fiction section of the youth section of the library or ask the librarian.
LIBRARY HOURS: Sundays 9:15am-10:15am, Tuesdays 9-11am (during Bible Study) & Wednesdays 5-7pm.

Library Recommendation of the Week – “Please Sorry Thanks” – The best predictor of success in life, in love, and in leadership is your proficiency at please, sorry, and thanks. Those three words are the foundation of all healthy relationships and successful careers. Those three words are the only ceiling on achieving your dreams. Those three words will determine how happy you are. With his trademark blend of personal stories, scientific and historical references, and biblical insight, Pastor Mark Batterson explores the psychology of please, the science of sorry and the theology of thanks. Whether you’re launching out into a new phase of life or navigating long-established complexities, learn how these three magic words hold the power to shape your world for good and let them propel you as you go where God leads you to go. You can find this book in the Christian Living section of the library or ask the librarian.

Library Recommendation of the Week There are few places on the planet where grace is less often expressed than in marriage. And the absence of grace leaves a gaping hole in the husband-wife relationship. While love inclines us to get married, grace is needed to keep that love healthy, strong and committed. Grace is the game-changing ingredient that enables us to treat one another the way God treats us—even when we don’t deserve it. And when grace and forgiveness are deposited into the spiritual bank account of any marriage, not only will that bless the marriage abundantly but it will also make a couple rich toward God. In ‘Grace Filled Marriage’ by Dr. Tim Kimmel and his wife Darcy, you will explore how grace can fill your marriage and be given the tools you need to create a grace filled life. You can find this book in the Family/Home section of the library or ask the librarian.

Library Recommendation of the Week On November 3, 2020, Tim and Aileen Challies received the shocking news that their son Nick had died. A twenty-year-old student at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, he had been participating in a school activity with his fiancée, sister, and friends, when he fell unconscious and collapsed to the ground. In ‘Seasons of Sorrow,’ Tim shares real-time reflections from the first year of grief—through the seasons from fall to summer—introducing readers to what he describes as the “ministry of sorrow.” It will benefit both those working through sorrow and those comforting others. See how God is sovereign over loss and that he is good in loss Discover how you can pass through times of grief while keeping your faith Learn how biblical doctrine can work itself out even in life’s most difficult situations Understand how it is possible to love God more after loss than you loved him before Combining personal narrative, sound theology, and beautiful writing, this is a book for anyone who has loved and lost. You can find it in the counseling section of the library or ask the librarian.

This book continues with the forty year saga of her devout Muslim father, the wealthy son of an Iranian Ayatollah who, at the age of 77 has a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ. ‘Forbidden Miracles’ exposes the lies and deceptions of Islam as well as the redeeming work of the Lord. It is a compelling story and a wake up call for Christians, Muslims and anyone facing or considering religious persecution. You will be inspired by the remarkable ways God makes himself known.
