FBC Connect Class If you are new here and would like to know what we are all about or if you have questions on being baptized or
becoming a member, then this is your class! This is a 3-part class and will take place on September 9, 16 & 23 in the Conference Room (across from the church office) at 9:15am. If you have any questions, feel free to call the church office!
 
MOSAIC Group! (Ministry & Outreach of Senior Adults in Christ) Y’All are invited to the Millers’ home (Steve & Patty)  at 1:00pm on Labor Day, 9/3 for an afternoon picnic! Hotdogs & hamburgers will be provided so bring a side dish, salad or dessert. To RSVP or for questions contact Patty or Lynn.
 
Barnabas Sunday: Next Week! During the first Sunday of every month, FBC collects food items for the Danville Food Bank. The collection basket will be in the Foyer next Sunday. September’s need is Canned Vegetables.

Mothers of Preschoolers – MOPS is part of an international movement to connect moms who have one or more children ages birth to kindergarten. Our goal is to provide you with a tribe of supportive women as you navigate the world of motherhood, faith, and life together. FBC Music Ministries
Choir will begin on Monday evening, September 10th, from 7:15-8:30pm in the sanctuary. If you are interested in joining the choir, come to a rehearsal! Our only requirements are that you love the Lord, attend rehearsals and can match pitch!
Bells of Joy handbell choir is a great opportunity for those who can read music to make a joyful noise to the Lord! Our first rehearsal will be on Monday, September 10 at 6-7:15pm in the Bell Room.
Praise Team This contemporary group worships during the 10:30am Sunday Service. If you are interested in auditioning, please email Pastor John at pjohn@danvillefirstbaptist.org. He’ll email you songs to rehearse ahead of time, a questionnaire to fill out and setup an audition time with you.  Auditions will usually take place Thursday evenings.

 

School Supplies for Haiti – During the month of August, the Haiti Team is collecting school supplies for the children of Haiti. We’ll take these with us and distribute them during our November trip. Please leave your donations of the following suggested items in
the barrel outside Springer Chapel by September 2.

  • Boxes of Crayons (24/box preferred)
  • Spiral notebooks, large with 70 pages
  • Wooden Pencils
  • Notebooks of graph paper
  • Erasers* (not a slip-on pencil eraser)
  • Small individual pencil sharpeners

Fishnet Partners! Fishnet Ministry processes large quantities of glasses, school supplies, etc. that will be used on short-term trips by teams from FBC, GAiN and Joni and Friends. This Thursday (8/23), they will be processing eye glasses in Room 9 from 9am-12pm. All are welcome!
 
Jr/Sr High Youth Group Kickoff is Sunday, August 26 5-8:30 PM at FBC!

Haiti Soup Can Project Begins Today!  Soup cans are available in the main lobby to those who would like to collect change over the summer. The money collected is used by the FBC Haiti Team to purchase glasses which the Team then distributes while there in November. The Soup Cans will be due back on Sunday, September 16th.

 

The Socks & Underwear Drive is here!! Please bring your donation of new socks and/or underwear for boys and girls, sizes 4-16 to the kitchen foyer until Sunday, August 12th. These items will be given by the Good Samaritan ministry to local students in need as they prepare for the new school year.

Vesper Service at the Montour-Delong Community Fair – Join us on Sunday, July 29 at 7:00 PM to kick off the fair by praising God! The fair is located at 5848 Broadway Road, Danville.

A great big thank you to all the VBS volunteers, coordinators, and parents & guardians for bringing their children each evening! We had so much fun exploring God’s word on our arctic adventure.

Our Mission: Rochester, NY! The kiddos will be collecting change to go towards backpacks and school supplies for the kiddos of Rochester through the ministry of Rev. Marv & Denise Robinson. We’ll also be collecting winter outer wear too!

Room Closets, Storage Closets, Storage Areas – everything must be sorted through! Unwanted items can be temporarily put in room 11 (next to the women’s bathroom by Springer Chapel). Items to be left in main storage areas should be clearly marked with either owner’s name or the ministry’s name. Treasure Fest will take place on the following Sundays (7/29, 8/1 & 8/8) where everyone will have a chance to go through the unwanted items!

Did you happen to see that we updated the projector?  Wow!  Well now we’re in need of a few more projector techs to help run the
display!  You need to be good with a computer and familiar with the songs we sing on Sunday mornings. We’ll provide you with one-on-one training so that you’re fully equipped for the job. If you’re interested, circle “P” on your connect card or give the office a call!

LuoPad Team Join us the first Thursday of every month at 9:30am as we continue to assemble LuoPads in the BFLC. This is an ongoing mission through GAiN that provides sanitary undergarments to women all over the world! We’d love to have you join us! The Barnabas Basket During the first weekend of every month, FBC collects food items for the Danville Food Bank. The collection basket will be in the Foyer today. July’s need is Jell-O and Pudding.

Special Business Meeting Recap A t 9:05am on Sunday 6/24, we voted on the approval of the specific items for Phase One and the concepts of Phase Two as listed in the four page handout (located at the Info Desk). The vote came back as 110-Yes, 7-No and 9-Abstaining. Thank you for your time, support and prayer for this endeavor!

The kiddos will be collecting change to go towards backpacks and school supplies for children!
