International Day of Prayer for Persecuted Christians This day is set aside as a global prayer meeting on behalf of persecuted Christians who stand as a bold witness to Christ on the world’s most dangerous frontiers. Prayer guides are available at the mission wall and Welcome Table in the gym.

 

Costa Rica Benefit Dinner Sat., Nov. 23 @ 6pm – Come for a delicious meal of spaghetti & meatballs, salad, garlic bread, and desserts prepared by the students and parents. The cost is free and all donations will go towards the Youth Mission trip in June. Sign-ups and details coming soon!!

 

Winterwear Collection We are collecting gently used, like-new winter outerwear, e.g. coats, hats, gloves, scarves, snowpants, etc. They will be delivered to Rochester, NY where our missionary Marvin Robinson will hand them out to the community. Donation Box in main lobby. Due 11/17.

 

School Supplies Needed We are collecting new school supplies for the upcoming trip to Honduras in Dec. We are also asking for NEW, SMALL stuffed animals (no bigger than a Beanie Baby) to hand out during the kids’ ministry time. Baskets are in the main lobby & gym. Thanksgiving Eve Service Wednesday, November 27 @ 7PM – This service celebrates and gives thanks to God for all He has done for us throughout the year. There will be a time of worship, prayer, thanksgiving & devotion. You are welcome to bring visiting family & friends, as well! We hope to see you there.

Fellowship Fund Giving Opportunity In following the biblical directive to take care of our widows and orphans, FBC created the fellowship fund. This fund not only blesses those financially hurting in our church family, but also those who desire to invest in their marriages. If you feel called to help, please join us for an informational meeting on the last Sunday of this month. Josh Long will be sharing his experience in working with Samaritan’s Purse. College Ministry Opportunity! Here is a way for us as a church to show our college students our love and support. We are collecting items that will be sent out at the end of October. You can donate items such as snacks, candy and stationery. For a complete list, please see the table in the lobby or the Welcome Table in the gym! Donation Box is by the kitchen. We reset our list every semester. If you would like your student to receive a package, please submit their information, even if it’s the same. We will be packing the boxes on Monday the 28th at 6pm in the gym! Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated to help cover the cost of shipping. Care & Concern Ministry began in October ‘03 and is a group of some of the biggest hearts around. They make and take meals to those who have had babies, surgery or are going through a tough time. This ministry has lifted the hearts of many as the love of Christ is shared in a practical & much needed way. Contact the church office if interested in participating.

 

Fishnet This group of amazing ladies meets on Thursdays from 9AM-12 noon at the home of Linda Beyer. They process large quantities of eyeglasses and sunglasses to be sent all over the world! If you would like to join them, please contact Donna Outt.

 

Dessert Reception Sunday, Oct. 6 @ 6PM – We will be hearing from our team that went to Word of Life, Canada, in June. All are invited to join us for ice cream sundaes in the gym as we hear how the team was able to minister to our missionaries, Jonathan & Melissa Ward. Dessert donations greatly appreciated!

NEW OPPORTUNITY! Join the Elective Sunday School Class as they journey through Paul David Tripp’s book, “Do You Believe?”. If you missed it the first time, don’t worry! The class is restarting the book on October 6th, giving you a chance to participate. The first class will meet in Room 230 (above the offices) at 9:15am.

Montour County Feed A Friend Collection basket will be in the Main Foyer through the month of October! Top Suggestions: Canned items such as vegetables, tuna, cranberry sauce, fruit, soup; Pasta & Sauce; Mac & Cheese, Boxed Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, etc. No refrigerated or frozen items, please.

 

Bells of Joy are Back! Handbell choir is starting up for the Fall. Now is a great time to check it out! The first rehearsal will be Monday, Oct. 14 from 6-7:15pm in the Bell Room. Note: you need to be able to read music.

 

Donuts with the Deacons Sunday, Oct. 6 9-9:20 & 10:10-10:30 in the gym. Meet your mini-flock deacon! A Mini Flock is like a small family within the larger church family. Each family is assigned a deacon alphabetically by last name. Your Mini Flock Deacon is another way you are guided and supported by your church family here at FBC.
