Prep for Annual Business Meeting on January 30
  • Board/Committee Nominations have been posted on the ramp bulletin board. Please direct any questions to a member of the Nominating Committee prior to our Annual Business meeting.
  • 2019 Budget has also been posted on the ramp bulletin board for your review. Any questions, see Jason Martello prior to meeting.
  • All Ministry Leaders need to turn in their reports by 1/16. This is your chance to let us all know what God’s been doing in you ministry!
  • Revised FBC Constitution Please pick up your copy of our revised constitution at the Info Desk. We’ll be voting on this at the meeting.
 
Midweek Meal: Wednesday, January 16: Dinner is served 4:45-5:45 PM. This week’s menu is Ham, Mac-n-Cheese, Broccoli & the desserts you bring. Please sign up by Monday, 1/14 on the Ramp Bulletin Board, in your SBS class or by calling the office. Suggested donation for meals is $3/person or $10/family. If you know of a shut-in or elderly person and would be willing to deliver a meal to them, it is free of charge. Please put their name on the sign up sheet and indicate “Shut-In”. Desserts are on a donation basis, so feel free to share a dessert any time.

FBC Music Ministries Choir will begin on Monday evening, January 14th, from 7:15-8:30pm in the sanctuary. If you are interested in joining the choir, come to a rehearsal! Our only requirements are that you love the Lord, attend rehearsals and can match pitch! Bells of Joy handbell choir is a great opportunity for those who can read music to make a joyful noise to the Lord! Our first rehearsal will be on Monday, January 14 at 6-7:15pm in the Bell Room. Praise Team This contemporary group worships during the 10:30am Sunday Service. If you are interested in auditioning, please email Pastor John at pjohn@danvillefirstbaptist.org. He’ll email you songs to rehearse ahead of time, a questionnaire to fill out and setup an audition time with you. Auditions will usually take place Thursday evenings.

Barnabas Sunday During the first Sunday of every month, FBC collects food items for the Danville Food Bank. The collection basket is in the Foyer today. January’s need is for Canned Fruit.

This is an ongoing mission through GAiN that provides sanitary undergarments to women all over the world! We’d love to have you join us!   • Christmas Cookies were brought to 23 of our Shut-ins during our caroling outing on Sunday evening, December 16!
  • The Christmas Tree of Love program reached out & blessed 63 people in our community. A special thanks to Ruth Ann Hawkins for coordinating this program!
  • 400 Truckers were blessed through donations FBC & other local churches provided.

Trained to be a Muslim evangelist, Paul’s life was interrupted by the Lord in 1997 and he converted to Christianity. Come and hear how he and his wife, Salwa, reach out in a variety of creative ways to Muslims around the world presenting the truth of Christ’s love and teaching Christian apologetics.

Christmas Tree of Love – Christmas is a time of giving! You will find the Tree of Love in the kitchen foyer by the gym entrance. Each ornament represents a person and a gift request or suggestion. As God leads you, please take an ornament from the tree and return it unwrapped in a Christmas-style gift bag to the church office by December 16th. Please keep the ornament with the gift so we can get it to the right person. If you are giving a gift card, please attach the receipt and/or the activation slip with the gift card. *LAST MINUTE ORNAMENTS AVAILABLE!*
 
Christmas Gifts for Truckers! During the Christmas season, FBC has been partnering with Pastor Howard Long for many years in his ministry to truck drivers at the Buckhorn Chapel! This year’s needs are packs of sugar-free gum and cookies! If you would like to participate please bring your cookies, 4 per ziplock baggie, to the collection box in the kitchen on December 19. Gum packs can be dropped off anytime until December 19 in the collection boxes in the main lobby & kitchen.
 
Fishnet Partners Fishnet Ministries processes large quantities of goods that will be sent to the mission field. This Thursday, they will be working in Room 9 on processing eye glasses in the BFLC from 9-12pm. All are welcome!

Cookies & Caroling December 14 – Caroling down Mill Street – We’ll be meeting up with others from Redeemer, Trinity UMC & Iron Mill churches by the FNB Bank at 6:30pm to carol, then heading to FBC for cookies & hot cocoa. December 16 – Caroling to our dear Shut-ins – We’ll be plating up a yummy assortment of Christmas cookies for our Shut-ins beginning at 4pm in the kitchen then dividing into groups to go caroling! Wanna Be a Buddy? God’s Champions is a ministry here at FBC that shares God’s love with those who have special needs. Buddies provide one-on-one support so our special friends can enjoy their Sunday School classes, Awana and more! For more information or to volunteer, contact Michele Whitenight. Christmas Offering Envelopes will be in the pews starting next week. The Christmas Offering will go towards funding for a new church van as well as funding for our future renovation projects.
 
Christmas Tree of Love – Christmas is a time of giving! You will find the Tree of Love in the kitchen foyer by the gym entrance. Each ornament represents a person and a gift request or suggestion. As God leads you, please take an ornament from the tree and return it unwrapped in a Christmas-style gift bag to the church office by December 16th. Please keep the ornament with the gift so we can get it to the right person. If you are giving a gift card, please attach the receipt and/or the activation slip with the gift card.
 
Christmas Gifts for Truckers! During the Christmas season, FBC has been partnering with Pastor Howard Long for many years in his ministry to truck drivers at the Buckhorn Chapel! This year’s needs are packs of sugar-free gum and cookies! If you would like to participate please bring your cookies, 4 per ziplock baggie, to the collection box in the kitchen on December 9. Gum packs can be dropped off anytime until December 9 in the collection boxes in the main lobby & kitchen.

Memorial Poinsettias
Poinsettias may be ordered in honor or in memory of a loved one. The suggested donation is $7.50. If you are interested, please stop by the Info Desk or contact the church office at (570) 275-1511 no later than December 14th.
 
Barnabas Sunday: Next Week!
During the first Sunday of every month, FBC collects food items for the Danville Food Bank. The collection basket will be in the Foyer next Sunday. December’s need is for soup.
 
Fishnet Partners Fishnet Ministries
processes large quantities of goods that will be sent to the mission field. This Thursday, they will be working in Room 9 on processing eye glasses in the BFLC from 9-12pm. All are welcome!
 
Blood Drive
Red Cross Blood Drive will be here Monday, December 3 in the BFLC from 1:00-6:00pm. Stop and see Jack and Brenda who will be serving food in the kitchen to all donors!
 
Midweek Meal
Wednesday, November 28: Dinner is served 4:45-5:45 PM. This week’s menu is “McBoyd” Sandwiches (egg & cheese on an English muffin – Ham/Sausage options), Breakfast Potatoes, Fruit Salad & the
desserts you bring. Please sign up by Monday, 11/26 on the Ramp Bulletin Board, in your SBS class or by calling the office. Suggested donation for meals is $3/person or $10/family. If you know of a shut-in or elderly
person and would be willing to deliver a meal to them, it is free of charge. Please put their name on the sign up sheet and indicate “Shut-In”. Desserts are on a donation basis, so feel free to share a dessert any time.

A Regional Ministry for Men meets on Tuesdays at 7PM in the gym. Our mission is to support one another in life, faith and personal growth with Trust, Confidentiality, and Authenticity. There will be faith based teaching and small group discussion. Light refreshments available.

Missionary Dessert Reception – TODAY at 6pm with Barry & Peggy Owen, Serving in Taiwan with World Venture – Any and all desserts would be appreciated! Please bring them to the kitchen for the 6PM service in the chapel.

Fall into a Good Book Lately? Stop by our Library and rake in a bunch of good reads! Who knows what adventures you’ll go on as you leaf through the pages! The Library is located across from the Nurseries and is open 8:45-10:30am on Sundays and 5:45-7:30pm on Wednesdays.

  • The Feed-a-Friend program gave food baskets to 383 families in our community!
  • Diane Gelbaugh, who coordinated the Jubilee Kitchen’s Thanksgiving meal yesterday, was overwhelmed with the generous support from the congregation. The youth had a great time helping to serve the meal as part of their 30 Hour Famine event.

Thanksgiving Offering Envelopes are located in the pew racks for the next few Sundays. Donations will go toward Christmas gifts for the missionaries that we support as well as funding towards an upcoming short term relief missions trip. We’ll have more info on the trip to come.

30 Hour Famine Nov. 16-17 Our Youth will be taking part in the 30 Hour Famine To help raise awareness and funds for hungry children around the world. Would you stand with us in praying for and/or donating to help us fight hunger? Checks can be made out to World Vision and given to P. Luke as the contact person or visit our fundraising page at youth.worldvision.org. Click on the orange Donate button and put Iron Youth in the search box.
 
Because of your Love In Action…
  • Mountains of candy were collected for Trunk-or-Treat
  • Several trips were made to take the Feed-a-Friend food to Shiloh
  • 54lbs of pet food were collected for the Danville SPCA
  • The Haiti Team has a huge challenge to pack all the school
    supplies, LuoPad kits, and more that were collected
  • Items collected for our LuoPad Team helped them exceed their goal of 500 kits and finish up with a grand total of 530 kits!
  • 26 College Care packages were stuffed full and sent out
