Word of Life Canada – The Word of Life campus in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada sustained extensive damage to one of their dormitories when a fire broke out back in January. FBC has been given the opportunity to join our missionaries serving there, the Wards, to help with repairs.

Hurricane Florence was referred to as the “storm of a lifetime” for the Eastern North Carolina region and our rebuild volunteers will be making construction repairs to homes. Here are the details:
  • Leaving early Sunday, May 24
  • Returning Saturday afternoon, May 30

Lenten Tea Coming to FBC! This Wednesday at 1:30pm – Guest Speaker, Debbie Dower, will be speaking on “Living as the Beloved” sharing her
experience as a missionary serving at the Black Forest Academy in Kandern, Germany. Tea service and light refreshments will be provided. Join us for some encouragement! Debbie was born and raised in northern New Jersey. With her family, she attended churches that were grounded in the teaching of God’s Word. Through the ministries of children’s Sunday school and Pioneer Girls, Debbie came to know God’s love for her and her need of a Savior. She gave her life to the Lord at age 11 during a Pioneer Girls’ meeting. Following graduation from Cedarville College, Debbie taught at a Christian school in New Jersey for six years. In 1991, she moved to Kandern, Germany to begin her ministry at Black Forest Academy, a school focused on providing a Christian education for children of missionaries and other expatriates. Debbie is a school psychologist and has provided educational consultation, testing, and intervention for families at Black Forest Academy as well as for families in the greater missionary community.
 
VBS 2020: MYSTERY ISLAND!! July 13-17 | 6-8:30PM | Closing Ceremony July 19 – Is there just one God? Who is God? What is God like? Does God love me? Can I know God? Our kids grapple with questions like these every day. At Mystery Island, we’ll uncover the truth about our Creator God! There’s a sea of confusion about who God is and what he’s like, so we’ll track down the one true God and learn how amazing he is through the pages of Scripture.

WHO IS WALT MUELLER?
     Dr. Walt Mueller is the founder and President of the Center for Parent/Youth. Understanding, a non-profit organization serving schools, churches, and community organizations across the U.S, Canada, and worldwide in their efforts to strengthen families by helping those who know and love children and teens to understand today’s rapidly changing youth culture. 
     Walt’s educational background includes research and studies in the disciplines of sociology, anthropology, theology, and postmodern generations.
     Walt and his wife Lisa live in Elizabethtown – the home base of CPYU – and they have four grown children and five grandchildren.
     Walt wants people to know that his greatest joys have come as a dad. He is not an expert on any of these issues, but rather sees himself as a fellow struggler with other parents and grandparents who are endeavoring to understand the world of kids in order to provide solid guidance and direction in the midst of a very confusing world.

Have You Found Waldo Yet? He’s hiding in our Library again for you to find!! You’ll also find some great reads for all ages, too! But… don’t let your late returns be like Waldo. They are not as much fun to search for. Library hours are between services on Sunday and Wednesday evenings.

There will be No Midweek Meal Wednesday, January 29. Meals resume Feb 5.

NEW Ladies Open Door Bible Study – TUESDAYS @ 9AM | WEDNESDAYS @ 6PM – In this verse-by-verse study of the Book of Hebrews, Jen Wilkin explores how God “provided something better for us” in the person of Jesus Christ (Heb. 11:40). Through stories of Old Testament heroes and practices, the author of Hebrews demonstrates how the new covenant is superior to the old and how Jesus Christ is the fulfilment of every promise. Explore familiar verses in context of the entire Bible, learning how to place your hope and faith in Christ alone. This 10 week study is great no matter where you are in your spiritual journey!
